In a recent development, it is being reported that Alex Albon has been disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix this weekend. The reason for his disqualification is the fact that his Williams team were not able to give a sufficient fuel sample to the FIA from his FW44 car.
It is pertinent to note that the British-born Thai driver had acquired a P16 in Melbourne a much better result than teammate Nicholas Latifi who was swiped by Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll into a heavy crash in Q1. The official website of Formula 1 confirms that Stroll received a three-place grid drop for the incident.
Furthermore, Albon's team did not provide the essential one-litre fuel sample from his car. Despite the call, he will be allowed to start Sunday's race from the back of the grid.
Earlier, Latifi gave his views on the collision with Lance Stroll.
"For me, it’s quite clear. I’ve just seen the video before coming here,” he told Sky Sports after the incident.
"I was preparing my out-lap, and it seems like he just turned into me once I was alongside him," he added.
"There’s not much more to say besides that. I let him through because he was pushing, or so I was told. Then I saw he had aborted the lap, so I wanted to carry on with my own preparation lap," he stated.
Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc is set to start the race on Sunday in pole position. This means Leclerc will race ahead of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez of Red Bull.
