One of the prestigious Grand Slam tournaments, Wimbledon 2022 has reached its semi-final stage and the best of men and women are all set to cross swords on grass-court to carve their name in the history books. While men's singles have a couple of familiar names like defending champion Novak Djokovic, 22-Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal, Nick Kyrgios and 1st-time semi-finalist Cameron Norrie, women's singles draw has three of the first-time qualifiers at Wimbledon semi-final.

Ons Jabeur, Elena Rybakina and Tatjana Maria are not household figures but have displayed tremendous potential in an ongoing competition to advance to the semi-final stage. The two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep is also in the line-up and will pose a formidable challenge to her opponents. She has rich experience under her belt as she has qualified for the semi-final stage of a major at least seven times. Ons Jabeur and Tatjana Maria are on the cusp of creating history as the latter who hails from Tunisia, will become the first Arab and North African woman to make a major final if she wins her semi-final contest.

Earlier in May, Jabeur became the first African to win a WTA 1000 title in Madrid. On the other hand, Maria is 34-year-old and a mother of two. The German player will have her daughters in attendance at the All England Club. If she wins, Maria would become the lowest-ranked woman to qualify for the Wimbledon final. She already has etched down her name as the oldest first-time Grand Slam finalist in the Open Era.

Speaking of Men's Singles, Nick Kyrgios is making his first bid at the Grand Slam semi-final where he will face second-seeded and injury-prone Rafael Nadal. Cameron Norrie will be going through a lot of excitement and nervousness as for the first time he has qualified to this stage and will be up against defending champion and master of comebacks Novak Djokovic.
