Winning the U-19 World Cup most memorable moment of my cricketing career, says SRH's Abhishek Sharma

In an exclusive interview with SportsTiger, the 20-year-old Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder spoke on a number of topics.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's young all-rounder Abhishek Sharma opened up on his cricketing journey from U-14 days to playing under David Warner for the 'Orange Army' in IPL. Abhishek spoke to SportsTiger about the role of the IPL in his growth as a cricketer, the influence of VVS Laxman, the kind of support he received from his parents while pursuing his passion, his role-model and much more.

Winning the U-19 World Cup most memorable moment of my cricketing career

The youngster revealed that the most memorable moment in his cricketing career so far would be winning the U-19 World Cup in New Zealand in 2018. Abhishek also captained the Indian side to the Youth Asia Cup title in 2016. A useful spinner and a destructive middle-order batsman, Abhishek had a breakthrough campaign last season in IPL. He featured 8 times for SRH and played some handy cameos lower down the order and also scalped 2 wickets with his left-arm spin bowling.

Yuvraj Singh is my Role Model

"Since my childhood, Yuvraj Singh has been my role-model. I also got an opportunity to play with him. I always like it when Yuvi paaji guides me like a big brother and a mentor." The talented youngster further emphasized that he was always backed by his family during childhood. His dad, who was also a cricketer guided him at every step throughout his cricketing journey.

Sunrisers have the most experienced coaching staff

Abhishek, who was spotted by Rahul Dravid during the left-arm spinner's stint as a nets bowler at the Delhi Daredevils camp heaped praise on the Sunrisers' coaching staff. He opined that the SRH coaching staff, consisting of Tom Moody, Muttiah Muralitharan and VVS Laxman is the most experienced one among all the IPL franchises.

Further, he said, "VVS sir has a lot of interest in me. He always tries to motivate me and shares his experiences with me. Those things have helped me a lot. We have the most experienced staff among all the IPL franchises."

My bonding is very strong with Shubman Gill

Abhishek, who smashed a quickfire 46 off just 19 balls on his IPL debut for Delhi against RCB in 2018, opened up on his bond with Team India opener Shubman Gill. He said, "Shubman and I have been playing together since our U-12 days. Even then, we were roommates and our bonding is very strong, We understrand each other really well."
