
Indian boxer Nitu Ghanghas managed to beat Altantsetseg Lutsaikhan from Mongolia and win the Gold in the World Women’s Boxing Championships finals. The first round saw a blistering start by the Indian pugilist, who was on the offensive.

Ghanghas took a few jabs before connecting a few punches. The first round also saw the two fighters tangle as Altantsetseg grappled Nitu onto the mat. The round went in Ghanghas’ favour, who also replicated a similar display in the second round.
After the first two rounds, Nitu was on top but received a yellow card for her troubles. The third round was dicey for the Indian southpaw as Lutsaikhan had some big moments. But as the fight ended, the results were in Nitu Ghanghas’ favour as she won the gold via a unanimous decision of 5-0.
As Nitu Ghanghas was declared the winner the 22-year-old was in tears as she embraced her coaches. With this victory, Ghanghas became the only 6th Indian boxer (male or female) to be a World Champion. Celebrating this win, Nitu's coach was seen lifting her and carrying her off the ring.
Former Indian boxer and Olympian Vijender Singh was also present in the crowd and was rallying the crowd and later also interacted with Ghangas after her win. The 22-year-old considers Singh one of her idols and hence celebrating this victory with him was a special moment.
Nitu Ghanghas also received a congratulatory message from Commonwealth and Asian Games medalist Vinesh Phogat. The champion wrestlers shared a heartfelt note on Twitter wishing the best of luck for her future.
Phogat wrote, "Congratulations Nitu Ghanghas on claiming your first-ever World Boxing Championship title! Many more to come with the kind of dedication, determination and strength at your age. Many upcoming talents will be inspired. Onwards and upwards."
