The Women’s Maharashtra Premier League (WMPL) is all set to begin from the last week of May and with the start of this tournament, a new era is expected to start in women’s cricket. Ahead of the inaugural league edition, the WMPL player auction was held in Pune on April 17. The four franchises, Pushp Solapur, Ratnagiri Jets, Pune Warriors, and Raigad Royals spent money and picked up players from Maharashtra to build their teams for the upcoming competition.

The tournament will provide local players from Maharashtra an opportunity to upgrade their skills, while sharing a stage with prominent India women players. With the conclusion of the auction, it’s time to have a glance at all four squads in the competition. India opener Smriti Mandhana has been declared the iconic player of Ratnagiri Jets for the next three seasons. The 28-year-old's experience will be crucial for Jets' campaign for the next three editions of the league. Noting her phenomenal success as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024, Ratnagiri might also hand her the reins of the side.
