In a bizarre turn of events ahead of a warm-up fixture before the ICC Women's World Cup 2022 in New Zealand, a member of the Australian team found herself locked in a toilet. The incident reportedly unfolded at Lincoln Green in New Zealand on Sunday, February 27 and has understandably left the Aussie team displeased.

The cricketer in question happens to be none other than Nicola Carey. She apparently was stuck in a cubicle for at least 20 minutes during Australia's warm-up fixture against West Indies. Carey later explained the situation which led to her being stuck. Eventually, though it all ended up on a lighter note with everyone around laughing at her.

"I got to the ground and needed to use the facilities, so I took myself to the toilet, locked the door, and couldn’t get out," the 28-year-old said in a video posted by Cricket Australia (CA).

The video was shared by the Cricket Board on their official social media handle.

The ICC Women's ODI World Cup is all set to commence on March 4 with the hosts White Ferns taking on the West Indies in the opening match. India will begin their campaign against Pakistan in a blockbuster clash on March 6 at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. The Mithali Raj-led side did not have the best of starts to their New Zealand tour as they lost the ODI series against the hosts 4-1.

Having said that, they seem to be peaking at the right time, having won the last ODI to avoid a clean sweep and later registering wins in warm-up matches against both South Africa and West Indies. With the team already in the country for some time, they would know exactly what to expect as far as the conditions on offer are concerned and with players like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana all showing glimpses of their prime form ahead of the marquee event, India could be a real contender to go all the way.
