On day four of the ongoing World Archery Youth Championship 2023, Indian archers clinched two gold medals as well as one silver medal in different events. The 18th edition of the Youth Championship kicked off on July 3, Monday in Limerick, Ireland where a total of 24 Indian recurve and compound archers are competing in the under-21 and under-18 age categories. 

On Day 4 of the ongoing tournament, India grabbed three medals as India’s Compound Cadet Girls defeated the USA to become the Cadet World Champions. Along with them, the Compound Junior Girls Team took down Mexico in the finals to become the Junior World Team Champions. Meanwhile, the Compound Cadet Boys lost the final to Mexico and ended up with the silver metal. 

The Indian contingent consists of 12 archers each in the U21 and U18 age groups. The U21 squad is led by Prathmesh Jawkar, Gold Medalist at the Shanghai stage of the 2023 Archery World Cup, and the senior two-time Asia Cup champion, Pragati. On the other hand, India’s U18 squad is led by Aditi Gopichand Swami, who created the world record in the qualification round during the senior Archery World Cup in Medellin, Colombia. 

There are a total of 518 archers from 58 countries competing at the tournament. The 2022 edition of the World Archery Youth Championship was held in Wroclaw, Poland, where India won 15 medals in total, including eight gold medals, and stood on top of the standings.
