The world no. 1 men’s doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty from India have reached the semi-final of the French Open at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle, Paris. They defeated the Thai pairing of Jomkoh Supak and Kittinupong Kedren in two straight games in the quarter-final with the scoreline reading 21-19, 21-13.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had a tough battle on their hands in the first game, trailing by 6-11 at the break, but they fought in the second half to clinch it 21-19. In the second game, Jomkoh Supak and Kittinupong Kedren tried their hardest to make a comeback, but they couldn’t sustain their level of performance, which ultimately led them to lose the match.
This will be the fourth appearance in the semi-finals of the French Open for the Indian duo of Satwik-Chirag in their career. They have been champions of this badminton event in 2022 while reaching the final in 2019.
PV Sindhu bows out of French Open after losing QF to Chen Yufei
In an epic quarter-final of the French Open, the Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu lost to the Chinese Olympic champion Chen Yufei in three games. The 92-minute-long match saw Sindhu win the first game, but then, Yufei made a very good comeback to get the better of her with the scoreline reading 22-24, 21-17, 21-18.
Notably, the French Open was only the second tournament for PV Sindhu after her comeback from injury, but her performance was quite encouraging for the Indian fans. The quality drop shots and smashes were on full display from PV Sindhu at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle, Paris, but she couldn’t get over the hurdle of the Chinese player on this occasion.
