Delhi Capitals Women, under Meg Lanning, have been the second-best team in this first edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The Capitals have won four out of five matches played so far in the tournament. Their solitary defeat came against Mumbai Indians, the best team of WPL 2023. Now, as they get ready to face Gujarat Giants on Thursday, the Capitals will be eyeing another win and a spot in the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants does not seem to be getting anything right as they have lost four out of five matches played so far. They have only managed to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who are languishing at the bottom of the points table. Having lost their captain, Beth Mooney at the start of the tournament has cost them dearly. Nevertheless, the Sneh Rana-led side will look to make amends and will hope for a turnaround when they face DC.
The pitch at Brabourne is suited for the batter as they get enough purchase from it. The ball comes onto the bat nicely and hitting through the line is easy. Meanwhile, bowlers have to be extra careful with their lengths.
