On Tuesday, June 24, Shubman Gill-led Team India went down against England in the first Test of the five-match series. After putting 835 runs on the board across the two innings, along with centuries coming from five batters, they failed to restrict the home side as they went on to register a five-wicket win and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
However, the Men in Blue hope to put this defeat at the back of their mind and hope to level the series as they now move into the second Test, which is scheduled to be played from July 2 to 6 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. But a defeat to start the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle has put them on the backfoot.
