India will face Australia in their second consecutive WTC Final at the Oval starting on Wednesday, June 7. India comfortably defeated Australia 2-1 at home in their last Test series prior to the IPL. India finished at the top of the ICC Men’s Test Rankings with 3031 points, just 352 points ahead of Australia, who finished second with 2679 points.

India have been dominant in the WTC over the last two years with just five losses in 18 games. The highlight of their WTC cycle was a 2-2 draw in an away series against England in August 2021, followed by a big win over the Aussies this year. Notably, coming into this final, India will be without their primary pacer Jasprit Bumrah and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. Pant will be a big miss as he has performed well in England and scored 868 runs in 12 innings in the WTC 2021-23 cycle. The Men in Blue will also miss KL Rahul will also miss the all-important WTC Final with an injury.

On the other hand, Australia are coming into this game with a loss against India in the subcontinent but will be confident against them in English conditions. The Australians will believe the conditions will suit pace and their attack comprising Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Scott Boland. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne have been the best batsmen for the Kangaroos with each scoring 1608 and 1509 runs respectively. Starc and Cummins will look to make the most of the conditions and target the Indian top order.
