This past Monday night on Raw, WWE legend and the current chief content officer (COO) Triple H, revealed a new World Heavyweight Championship to the thunderous applause of fans at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. The belt looked quite similar to the big gold belt, also called the World Heavyweight Championship, which was used from 2002 to 2013 by the company. The 53-year old declared that the new champion will be crowned at the Night of Champions premium live event from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 27.

Before the big reveal, Triple H talked about Roman Reigns - the longest reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion in the modern era - who had negotiated himself a deal with the company which allows him to not defend his championship as frequently as a normal title holder would do. He stated that the deal is great for Roman Reigns but not for WWE, because they need their top champion to appear on their weekly shows and defend the titles regularly. As a former World Heavyweight Champion himself, he was quoted as saying to the fans, “WWE deserves more, you deserve more.”

“A few weeks ago, when I talked about the WWE Draft, I said the draft would change WWE at its very core. Because when Roman Reigns gets drafted to whatever brand he gets drafted to, he will take the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship with him and he will stay there. The other brand will determine a new champion,” Triple remarked before unveiling the championship which will be contested for at the Night of Champions.

After showcasing the new World Heavyweight Championship to the fans in attendance at the Allstate Arena in Chicago and watching around the world, Triple H made his concluding remarks about his huge announcement. He said, “This will be a champion you can be proud of. This will be a champion you can respect, that you can admire. This will be a champion that will defend this championship anywhere, any place, any time, all over the world.”
