Star India batter and one of the budding talents in the cricketing scenarios, Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken a u-turn after he had initiallly filed to move to Goa, cutting ties with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). However, the Indian opener had reportedly applied for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) in April to switch to Goa, but in his recent move, he has revoked the option to stay at MCA.
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Jaiswal has requested the MCA to let him continue with Mumbai for the upcoming domestic season 2025-26. “He has written a letter to us, but we are in no hurry to take a decision on this because there is time for the next domestic season,” MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap told the media house. He further added that Jaiswal has not submitted a NOC either with the BCCI or Goa.
Jaiswal withdraws NOC after change of family plans
As informed by Zee News, the 23-year-old formally communicated of the change of plans of his family, which led to changing his cricketing destination from Mumbai to Goa. “I, the undersigned, would request your good self to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me, as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa, which, for now, have been curtailed. So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season! I have not submitted the NOC to the BCCI nor to the Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote.
It is to be noted that Jaiswal has represented Mumbai since his Under-19 days. He rose to fame after an exceptional season in 2019, where he featured in ten First-Class games, garnering 863 runs at an average of 53.93, which included four centuries and two fifties.
As of now, Jaiswal is playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 after being retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auction. As far as the season is concerned, which has come to a sudden halt due to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Jasiwal is the top-runscorer for the RR, having amassed 473 runs off 12 innings. He is just 37 runs shy of Suryakumar Yadav, who currentlly holds the Orange Cap in IPL 2025 with 510 runs.
