India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hails from Gujarat, the same state from where India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi belongs to. Before being named as India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for three straight terms.

So, as Jadeja is busy campaigning for his wife who is contesting for one of the seats in Gujarat State elections, the Saurashtra all-rounder shared an anecdote from 12 years back involving him, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and the Indian Prime Minister.

Jadeja recalled how PM Narendra Modi addressed him as ‘apna ladka’ in front of the then captain MS Dhoni. The all-rounder revealed that as India and South Africa were playing an ODI at the Motera Stadium, the state’s CM was also present at the venue. The captain of the Indian team, Dhoni then greeted Modi and introduced him to all the players of the team.

When Dhoni introduced Jadeja to Mr. Modi, the then-CM of Gujarat remembered that Jadeja belonged to the same state and asked Dhoni to take care of him.

“When I first met him in Ahmedabad in 2010, when he was the CM of Gujarat, we were playing a match against South Africa at Motera. Our captain Mahi Bhai was introducing us to Narendra Modi and when they came to me, Modi Shahab said ‘Are ye to hamara ladka hai, dhyan rkhna’. Although it was on a lighter note, it felt good to know that a personality of such stature knows you personally,” said Jadeja.

Notably, the India all-rounder is out of cricketing action as he is still recovering from a knee injury, he suffered during the Asia Cup 2022. Jadeja also missed the T20 World Cup 2022 and was recently ruled out of the three ODIs against Bangladesh.
