Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri on Sunday led his team Bengaluru FC to their maiden Duran Cup title. The Blues beat Mumbai City FC 2-1 to be crowned the champions of the prestigious tournament that has existed since 1888. With this trophy, Sunil Chhetri completed his trophy cabinet that has almost all possible titles. The 38-year-old who is at the twilight of his career got the much-deserving win.

Chhetri was more than elated having won the match and the title and it showed on his face when he walked up to collect the trophy. However, what happened at the stage was what felt wrong to many including former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa. A video going viral on the internet shows Sunil Chhetri being pushed away by the West Bengal Governor, La Ganesan while he was collecting the trophy.

The BFC captain unknowingly blocked Ganesan’s frame while the cameras took pictures of the trophy getting distributed. Frustrated by this, the West Bengal Governor pushed Chhetri away and all of this got captured on another camera. The video was widely shared on social media and reached Robin Uthappa who found it all sorts of wrong. The former India cricketer apologised to Chhetri and said that he deserves much better than what happened.

This was not the only such incident. Another video showed a similar incident involving Aroop Biswas, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in West Bengal. In the video, the minster is seen pushing a BFC player while the latter was trying to pose before the camera and unknowingly blocking Biswas’ frame.

Apart from Uthappa, other users also criticized the minister for his misbehaviour as a user called all of this ‘pathetic’. “Pathetic... Governor is more interested in getting pics with the trophy and sidelining the players who have actually earned the trophy,” tweeted the user.
