"You’ll definitely see me in yellow jersey next year," says MS Dhoni as he returns as Chennai Super Kings captain against Sunrisers Hyderabad

It will not be an easy task even for a proven and inspirational captain like Dhoni to turn around CSK's campaign from here.

More than the cricketing great that MS Dhoni is, the India and Chennai Super Kings legend has become an emotion. While he may no longer be the bank of finishing games consistently, he still has the experience which can help the Men in Yellow cross the line in a few tense situations like the game against Mumbai Indians where he scored 16 off the final four balls.

More often than not when Dhoni decides to give up the captaincy, there is no looking back. Or at least that was the case with the national team when a successor was ready. While Dhoni and the team management identified Dhoni's successor to be Ravindra Jadeja before the start of IPL 2022, after 8 matches in which CSK have 2 wins, Jaddu has withdrawn saying that he wants to focus on his game.

"You’ll definitely see me in yellow jersey next year," Dhoni said at the toss at the MCA Stadium in Pune. "Whether it is this one, or some other one, you never know," he was quick to add, keeping possibilities of taking up a coaching role open.

It will not be an easy task even for a proven and inspirational captain like Dhoni to turn it around from here as the Men in Yellow are lying at the ninth position and are up against one of the consistent teams like Hyderabad in Dhoni's first match after returning as the captain.
