Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was arrested by Haryana Police for his casteist remarks on Yuzvendra Chahal, which the cricketer had made during an Instagram live session with Rohit Sharma last year. The cricketer has been released on interim bail, as per the directions given by high court last week.

"Yuvraj Singh came to Hansi on Saturday and we made a formal arrest. He was released on bail bond after a few hours, " DSP (Hansi) Vinod Shankar said. An FIR had been filed against the former all-rounder earlier this year, under sections of the IPC and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act based on a complaint by lawyer Rajat Kalsan at Hansi Police Stadion in Hisar.

Notably, this part of the live session was the reason behind Yuvraj's arrest. The video is from June 2020 when Yuvraj and Rohit were involved in a candid conversation during the lockdown.

Yuvraj Singh had apologized for his comments last year

It must be noted that Yuvraj Singh's comments had gone viral on social media at that time and fans had expressed their anger on the same. As a result, the former Indian cricketer had issued a public apology for his mistake, on Twitter.

He had stated, "This is to clarify that I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception."

"I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same," Yuvraj had added.

Following his release on an interim bail, it seems like Yuvraj Singh left for Dubai as he posted an Instagram story on Sunday night stating, "Love Dubai" with the city in background.
