The start of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is not so far away and the franchises are also well aware of that. With the addition of two teams, the battle for the trophy is going to get more intense. And to lead that fight for every team, there must be an able leader. While eight of the ten franchises have found one, two are still wondering about whom to name.

Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are yet to name their new captain with their previous captains not available. While Punjab Kings' previous leader KL Rahul has joined a new franchise, Bangalore's Virat Kohli resigned last year. So, both the teams are looking for a new leader. Punjab Kings have two choices in the form of Shikhar Dhawan who is experienced and Mayank Agarwal who is still very young and dynamic.

The PBKS management also seems to be confused about whom to hand over the captaincy baton. While Shikhar Dhawan's name was earlier being touted as PBKS captain, Mayank Agarwal's name has started doing rounds now. According to a PTI report, the PBKS management wants Agarwal to lead the team.

"In all likelihood, Mayank will captain the side. The announcement is expected later this week," an IPL source was quoted saying by PTI. Dhawan is a welcome addition to the side and was always on the radar at the auction. He is a champion player but it seems Punjab were keen on Mayank as captain ever since KL Rahul left the team," the source added.

Notably, Mayank Agarwal was one of the two retentions by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The Karnataka batter has received a whopping 12 CR contract for the next three years.
