The first match of IPL 2022 was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. And it was Shreyas Iyer’s team who managed to finish on top. They beat Chennai by six wickets in what was an easy chase for the Knights. After putting CSK in to bat first, KKR restricted them to a below-par total (131/5) and then chased it with ease on the back of some great batting performances from Ajinkya Rahane and Sam Billings.
CSK felt the absence of Faf du Plessis who was carrying the responsibility to give a good start. Ravindra Jadeja’s captaincy debut was not that great as the all-rounder could not deliver either with the bat or the ball.
