Ahead of the Australian Open 2022, a huge drama has been unfolding down under involving World No. 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic. It all started when the Serbian was detained at the airport for around 8 hours on his arrival in Australia, following which his visa was cancelled as he supposedly failed to meet the basic requirements for entry to the country.
After spending four days in an immigration hotel, Novak’s visa was eventually reinstated by the court. Despite not being vaccinated against Coronavirus, he has notably been exempted after he produced documents that reveal that he had tested positive for COVID-19 in December.
The whole saga has left the tennis fraternity divided! While some believe that Novak is being wrongly treated by the authorities, the others opine that rules are rules and the player must obey them.
Reporters believe that Serbian is lying to take part in Australian Open
Amid all this, a video has now gone viral where two reporters of Seven News Melbourne can be seen talking about the whole situation. However, it must be noted that it was a private candid conversation (which was taking place off-air) but someone leaked it on social media.
“Whatever way you look at it, Novak Djokovic is a lying sneaky a***hole,” reporter Rebecca Maddern said. She added further that it was an unfortunate situation that everyone else was getting dragged into, around the Serbian.
Reflecting on Novak’s coronavirus test, the TV reporter opined that the form submitted by the player was a lie and she does not think if the tennis player was actually COVID positive.
“He’s got a bullshit f*****g excuse and then fell over his own f*****g lies. It’s just what happens, right, that’s what happened,” her colleague Mike Amor responded.
Towards the end, both the reporters can be seen coming to a consensus that Novak will get away with it eventually. The video of the private conversation is going viral on social media.
