The organisers have included the reigning Wimbledon champion and former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the US Open 2022 entry list. However, his participation in the final Grand Slam tournament of the year remains in doubt due to the existing coronavirus vaccination regulation in the United States.

The organisers of the US Open 2022 have prepared the entry list based on the current ATP rankings. They also released a statement citing their adherence with the government's order on the matter although the players are not mandatory to be vaccinated to participate in the tournament.

"The US Open does not have a vaccination mandate in place for players, but it will respect the U.S. government's position regarding travel into the country for unvaccinated non-U.S. citizens," the New York Grand Slam organisers said in the statement.

The New York-based tennis tournament has included the Russian and Belarusian players in the entry list which includes Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev for men's challenge and Daria Kasatkina and Victoria Azarenka in women's competition.

Earlier, the 21-time Grand Slam winner was asked about the possibility of him getting vaccinated. "I'm not vaccinated and I'm not planning to get vaccinated. The only good news I can have is that they eliminate that protocol that only people who are vaccinated or have some exemption can enter the country. I do not know if it will be possible," Novak Djokovic said.

The US Open 2022 qualifying matches will be played from August 23 to 26 while the main draw will commence from August 29 to September 11.
