While it looked set to be a great game of Test match cricket at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Monday, the weather made no play possible. Incessant showers and wet outfield meant that the play eventually had to be called off early without a single ball being bowled. There were lots of eyes on the Test match after Day 1 where the Indian batters had made 272/3, with KL Rahul scoring an unbeaten hundred and Ajinkya Rahane batting on 40* at stumps.

Lungi Ngidi was the lone wicket-taker for South Africa and after they had opted for the new ball, Kagiso Rabada was likely to be the threat for India in the first session on Day 2 in overcast conditions. However, rain spoiled all the fun and now the match is slated to resume on Day 3 morning.

Fans who were hoping to absorb a good day of Test cricket from the comfort of their homes were thoroughly disappointed and took to social media to express their feelings.

Other than Rahul and Rahane, it was Rahul's opening partner who impressed on Sunday with a well-made 60. Along with Rahul, he put on a 100-run stand for the opening wicket becoming just the third Indian opening pair to put on a century stand in a Test match in the rainbow country. The other two partnerships are Wasim Jaffer and Dinesh Karthik and Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
