
Former Australia cricketer Justin Langer is celebrating his 55th birthday on November 21, 2025. The great opening batter has played for the Australian Cricket team from 1993 to 2007. In these 14 years, Langer has played 105 Tests and eight ODI matches for Australia scoring 7856 runs in both the formats combined.
Justin Langer is also known to be the first ever opener in Test history to have an average of 40+ in the longest format of the game. He has scored 7696 runs in his Test career at an average of 45.27 hitting 23 hundreds and 30 fifties. Let’s have a look at his career stats.

Justin Langer made his debut for the Australian Cricket team in a Test match against West Indies on January 23, 1993. It was a decent start for him as he went on to score 54 runs in the second innings of the match. A year later, Langer also got to make his ODI debut for Australia in a match against Sri Lanka in Sharjah on April 14, 1994. Five years after his debut, Langer scored his maiden Test hundred in a match against Pakistan in Peshawar in October 1998. He score 116 runs in the first over along with Mark Taylor’s 334-run knock.
Although he turned out to be a great player in Test cricket, Justin Langer didn’t get many opportunities for Australia in the ODI format. He played his last international game in January 2007.
After his retirement, Justin Langer took over various roles as coach as he was appointed as coach of Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers in November 2012. He also served as Head Coach of the Australia Cricket team from 2018 to 2022. In his stint as Head Coach, Australia won their first-ever Men’s T20 World Cup title in 2021. In 2023,, Langer was also appointed as Head Coach of the IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants.
