Embarrassing news is coming for Pakistan from Australia, as their national hockey team players were forced to roam around the streets after the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) failed to clear the hotel bills due to a shortage of funds during the FIH Pro League. The PTI has reported the shocking news. However, later, the accommodation was eventually arranged at the same hotel.

Global Humiliation for Pakistan Hockey as Federation Fails to Clear Hotel Payments

According to the PTI, the Pakistan national hockey team arrived in Canberra for the FIH Pro League, and when they visited their hotel, the players got to know that the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) failed to settle the hotel bills, so the players were forced to roam around the streets for some time. Eventually, the payment was made by the Federation at the same hotel.

A PTI source revealed that the federation claimed it had already made the advance payments. However, the players later discovered the truth and were left waiting outside without any shelter until the federation cleared the payment.

A PTI source said, "Apparently, the players and officials were booked in a four-star hotel in Canberra and were told that the Pakistan Sports Board and Pakistan Hockey Federation had made all upfront payments for their stay in Canberra."

"But when they reached Canberra last week, they found no bookings for them at the designated hotel. The team's head coach, Tahir Zaman, faced problems getting in touch with PSB and PHF officials back home because of the time difference. Tahir messaged them about the awkward situation; the players were facing and had no place to stay and rest after a long journey from Lahore," he added.

The source also revealed that the later the players got the accommodation at the same hotel, the more players were forced to share rooms due to the limited availability of rooms. After this global embarrassment of Pakistan, their team lost to Australia by 3-2 in the opening game the very next day.
