The Indian athlete Gurindervir Singh made history in the 2026 Athletics Federation Cup with a new national record timing of 10.09 seconds in the men’s 100m event. This would probably be one of the proudest moments of his career as he has achieved no trivial feat. After the record-breaking gold medal, he stated that it all became possible because he was training well and he also emphasized the importance of his mental health as well. Gurindervir Singh will be aiming to achieve much higher accolades for India and this could just be the starting.

"It is a very good feeling. Hopefully, I will train well and bring good results in the future. In the last minute, the game is more about being mentally strong than being physically strong. I was able to keep myself mentally strong yesterday, and that is why I was able to run well..." stated Gurindervir Singh. The mentality and intent of the athlete seems pretty clear as he isn’t settled with this result but aims to bring good results in the future for his country as well.

The national record was altered twice already during Friday's semi-finals, when Gurindervir initially finished at 10.17 seconds, and Kujur responded in mind-blowing fashion with a 10.15-second run. However, in the finals Kujur crossed the line second at 10.20 seconds, while Pranav Gurav took third in 10.29 seconds.
