Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum opened up on the Achilles rupture sustained by Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo. Notably, on Saturday, DiVincenzo became the fourth NBA player to tear his Achilles in a playoff game over the last year, and surprisingly, all four players wore No. 0. Tatum, who himself underwent the same injury last year, said that the Minnesota star’s injury made him ‘sick to his stomach.’
“I was definitely sick to my stomach yesterday seeing them go down cause I know exactly how he's feeling,” Tatum said. “I know exactly what he has to go through.” Notably, DiVincenzo, after suffering the injury, immediately followed Tatum’s critical first step of undergoing surgery the next day. He flew to New York to see the same surgeon as the Celtics star, Dr. Martin O’Malley.
"I know exactly how he's feeling, I know exactly what he has to go through. He has me in his corner, whether he gonna like it or not. So I'll definitely reach out to him soon.” — Tatum on Donte tearing his Achilles. ✊ (h/t @ohnohedidnt24) pic.twitter.com/MtVrIpfyKS

“I’m glad he got his surgery today. My thoughts and prayers have been with him. Hopefully it went successful, I have no doubt about that,” Tatum added. Not only this, but the Duke Alum also offered to be a help to DiVincenzo. “I never want anybody to go through that injury and just what's to come in the rehab process,” Tatum added. “I know for a fact I'm going to reach out to him at some point. It just happened yesterday and there’s a lot going on for him. You never want to see anybody injured, especially that one.”

On Sunday, the Boston Celtics came up with a 128-96 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, recording a 3-1 lead in the Playoffs Round 1. Tatum put up a monstrous 30-point performance for his side, while knocking down 50% of shots from the three-point range and the field in 35 minutes of action. Not only this, but he also went a perfect nine for nine at the free throw line. In addition to it, he dropped 11 assists, and grabbed seven rebounds against the 76ers.
Apart from him, Payton Pritchard came up with 32 points, with 12-21 from the field and 6-12 from the three-point range. Pritchard grabbed four rebounds, and dished out five assists for the side, whereas Jaylen Brown put up a 20-point performance for his side. With his performance, Tatum now has the second-most 30-point and 10-assist postseason games in Celtics history. The only player who has more than him is John Havlicek.
