The stage was set for a classic Dhoni finish but Rishi Dhawan had other ideas. The Punjab pacer not only stopped Chennai from chasing down 188 but also put the final nail in the coffin with the wicket of Dhoni. Even after getting hit for a six on the very first ball of the 20th over, Rishi Dhawan kept his nerves and defended the 27 runs to bag another victory for Punjab Kings.
For CSK, Ambati Rayudu would be the most disappointed man with his stupendous knock of 78 going to vain. Being sent out to bat at No.5 today, Rayudu turned around the game with his fearless hitting in the middle. The veteran batter raced to his fifty in just 28 balls and was looking set to win it for Chennai. But a yorker from Rabada ended his heroics and the hopes for Chennai.
Earlier, being put into bat first, Punjab posted 187/4 in their 20 overs on the back of an unbeaten 88 from Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw batter stole the show with his knock. He also got good support from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Liam Livingston.
