A clash of big-guns! A clash of mighty warriors! This will be the story when Islamabad United lock horns with Quetta Gladiators at Karachi. Both the teams have had different fortunes so far in the tournament. While Shadab Khan-led men are on a roll with 2 wins and 1 loss, Sarfraz Ahmed’s men have got off to a disastrous start. They have been outclassed in all the three departments. A must-win game for all the teams to get their campaign back on track.

Analysis

Islamabad United finished with the wooden spoon last season. Nearly everything was going right for them in this season, but Wahab Riaz led Peshawar Zalmi put a screeching halt to United’s winning momentum. Batting was below-par for Islamabad and they managed to only muster 118 runs. This is no way was competitive as most of the games at Karachi have been high-scoring games. Opener Alex Hales played a gutsy knock of 41, but that went in vain. In response, Peshawar chased down the paltry total comfortably within 17.1 overs.

Sarfraz Ahmed mentioned in the post-match presentation in their match against Zalmi that, if they would have got Sherfane Rutherford out, the game’s proceedings would have been different. Such is the importance of fielding in modern-day matches. Quetta were sloppy on the field and they paid the price. Quetta now are the only team who have not opened their account in PSL. Sarfraz scored a blistering 81 off just 40 balls in their previous game, but that went in vain. Ahmed mentioned in the post-match presentation that Quetta were confident of bouncing back.
