Defending champions Karachi Kings square off against Lahore Qalandars in Match 11 of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Analysis
At the time of writing this article, defending champions Karachi had won 1 game and lost 1. They will be taking on Lahore after contesting against Mohammed Rizwan led Multan Sultans. Karachi have some big names in their ranks like Dan Christian, Babar Azam, Mohammed Nabi and so much firepower can easily be intimidating for the opposition’s bowling battery. However there was a dent in Karachi’s momentum as they were outclassed by Islamabad in their previous game. Imad Wasim mentioned in the post-match presentation that Karachi would “come back strongly”. Babar Azam finally notched up a half-century as he played a crucial knock of 62. But the showstopper of Karachi’s batting was opener Sharjeel Khan’s scintillating knock of 105 off just 59 deliveries.
Sohail Akhtar’s Lahore Qalandars started off the tournament with a bang with 2 successive victories. However, they tasted defeat for the first time in 2021 as they lost to Multan Sultans by 7 wickets. Star-allrounder Mohammed Hafeez is in good form and he brought about a magnificent 60 in their previous match. It is safe to say that Hafeez is one of the most reliable batsmen of this Qalandar’s line-up. Fielding was sloppy on their part and they let go off a lot of valuable chances. Shaheen Afridi struck twice but the other bowlers mostly leaked runs.
