In Match No. 2 of the Pakistan T20 League, last season’s runners-up Lahore Qalandars will lock horns with Peshawar Zalmi. It is going to be the first match of a double header on Super Sunday and the stage is perfectly set for a thrilling contest. While Sohail Akhtar will captain the Qalandars, Zalmi will be led by Wahab Riaz. Both the charismatic leaders would be looking to get their respective teams off to a winning start in the 2021 edition.

Lahore Qalandars had a very impressive campaign last season as they came tantalisingly close to win their first Pakistan T20 League title. They lost out in the finals against Karachi Kings and finished as runners-up. Fakhar Zaman (325 runs) and Mohammad Hafeez (312 runs) were their leading run-scorers last season and will have a huge role to play in this contest as well. The pace attack will be led by the newly appointed vice-captain Shaheen Afridi, who took 17 wickets last season. The Qalandars certainly looks a dangerous side, especially with the addition of Rashid Khan and Joe Denly to their squad.
Peshawar Zalmi, the champions of 2017 edition, had a decent campaign last season. They managed to make it to play-offs but were eliminated by the Qalandars in the play-offs. Zalmi have retained their experienced players in the form of Wahab Riaz, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal. They also have two promising players Liam Livingstone and Haider Ali in their setup. The Zalmi side bolstered their squad in the draft as they added some international stars like David Miller, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Sherfane Rutherford and Ravi Bopara. They certainly have a better squad as compared to last season and would certainly want to start off their campaign with a win against the Qalandars on Sunday.
Peshawar Zalmi have had an upper hand over the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan T20 League. In the 11 meetings between the two sides, Zalmi have been victorious 8 times while the Qalandars have won only thrice. Although, the Qalandars came out on top in their recent meeting as they eliminated Zalmi in the play-offs last season.
