Manchester United star Paul Pogba is among the latest to offer his opinion on who among Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is the Greatest of All Time. While several footballers and pundits have had their take, the French World Cup winner chose not to select the former Man United legend or the Barcelona ace. Notably, the question regarding who is the better player has been trending for over a decade with fans and experts all divided in their opinions.

If Messi's career is illustrious, Ronaldo's runs parallel

Lionel Messi has won six Ballon d'Or trophies and also has six European Golden Shoe trophies to his credit, other than leading the Catalan giants to ten La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues. However, one of the major criticism for Messi has been his inability to lead his national team to major trophies.

If Messi's career is illustrious, Ronaldo's runs parallel. He has five Ballon d'Or trophies to his name along with five Champions Leagues and seven league titles across three different countries, having won the Premier League with Manchester United, La Liga with Real Madrid and Serie A with Juventus. He even managed to lead Portugal to win at the 2018 European Championships in France.

When asked to pick between the two, Pogba refused to choose.

"Messi or Ronaldo? It's a nice but trick question as there is no best for me. Two different players. They are two-player who both bring joy to watch. Many people are going to have their own opinion of them, just two legends," Pogba was quoted as saying by the official website of Manchester United.

Rivalry to resume in Premier League?

As both the legends of the game approach the twilight of their careers, there are speculations that they might leave their respective sides. After a disappointing 2020-21 campaign with Juventus, reports have suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo could seek a move away from them with former club Manchester United interested in roping him in again.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi's contract with Barcelona is also set to expire at the end of the season and although the club is confident that he will stay put, Messi hasn't yet penned a deal with them. Reports have also emerged that Premier League's Manchester City have set their eyes on him which hints at a rivalry resumption of the two greats in the Premier League.
