Social media can spread news faster than a forest fire. Similar is the case with viral news and content and something similar happened during the ongoing Test match between India and New Zealand. A cricket fan, who identified himself as Shobhit Pandey, became a meme sensation after a video of him chewing something went viral. Netizens thought he was consuming Gutkha and after the video started doing the rounds all over the internet, the girl sitting beside him also got unwanted attention.

Later Shobhit did give an explanation that he was in fact eating "meethi supari" and was spotted with the placard which said "Gutka khana galat baat hai" which roughly translates to "Eating tobacco is a bad habit" on Day 2 of the Test match. But till then, he and his sister both became viral and Shobhit was not pleased with the nasty comments his sister was receiving due to the video going viral.

Didn’t do anything wrong, that is why I am not scared or embarrassed about this: Shobhit

"First of all, I would like to clarify that I wasn’t eating tobacco. I was eating betel nut and was on call in with my friend, who was also watching the match in the same stadium but in a different stand," he said as per Hindustan Times.

"It was just a call of almost ten seconds and it went viral. My friend whom I was talking to was the one who broke the news to me that the video has gone viral. It went like a fire," he added.

"I didn’t do anything wrong, that is why I am not scared or embarrassed about this. I am just concerned that some people are passing nasty comments about my sister. And on the other hand, I am getting numerous calls from media houses and other people regarding the whole scenario and now I am getting irritated," he explained his concern.

In the ongoing Test, Day 2 was dominated by New Zealand but India have made a strong comeback on Day 3 and have dismissed 6 Kiwi batters for the score of 241 after the BlackCaps openers put on over 150. Axar Patel has been the pick of the bowlers for India so far with 3 wickets for 46 runs.
