The world of cricket was left in shock on Saturday after Virat Kohli stunned everyone with his decision to step down as India’s Test captain after the series loss against South Africa. The 33-year-old, who had earlier resigned from T20 captaincy, was later removed as ODI captain with BCCI looking to have only one white-ball skipper.

Despite all the drama, there was never a doubt regarding Kohli leading the national side in red-ball cricket for years to come. However, India’s most successful captain in whites has taken the call to end a beautiful era which saw India clinch some historic wins and become No. 1 ranked side in Test cricket.

The fans, as expected, could not digest the sudden news and flooded social media with posts. There were many people who were just talking about his legacy as Test captain where he led India in 68 matches, registering an incredible 40 wins.
