Kolkata Knight Riders registered a big win against Mumbai Indians on Monday. After Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance cramped Kolkata’s middle order and restricted them to 165, Kolkata’s collective bowling and fielding effort stunned five-time champions as the Iyer-led side won the game by 52 runs. Although Shreyas Iyer could not perform with the bat, many lauded him for making perfect bowling changes in the second innings.
Post-match, Shreyas made a shocking revelation while commenting on making frequent changes in the squad. He revealed that CEO Venky Mysore is also involved in team selection, so it’s difficult to tell players about axing. “It is really difficult (to tell players about axings). Coach and at times, the CEO is also obviously involved in team selections. Every player takes it well, and they have put in their best efforts,” Iyer said.
The shocking details surprised many as this was the first instance where an IPL captain revealed that even the CEO of the franchise is involved in team formation. KKR fans were quick to express their disbelief with the management, and a few even demanded resignations from CEO Venky Mysore and head coach Brendon McCullum.
Check out a few such tweets:
Please quit the team and make @Bazmccullum quit as well. A manager who is still not sure about the opening pair even after 11 games does not deserve a place. Also to add, @venkymysore, you did a terrible team building in the auctions. We as KKR fans are in total shame.

Dont you think its too late now? You have kept shuffling players like wearing new clothes everyday but it went all in vain. I think you should step down or else give the baton to someone else who is worthy of it. We are die hard fans, it stings how KKR is ruined by its management

Notably, the management made 5 changes in the squad against Mumbai Indians on Monday. The franchise roped in Ajinkya Rahane, Pat Cummins, Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, and Sheldon Jackson. KKR has been under massive scrutiny for making too many changes throughout the tournament. The runner-ups of the previous edition have only managed to win five out of twelve games and are currently placed at seventh position on the points table.
