A similar thing happened to what happened on Thursday after the India men’s hockey team clinched a medal at the Tokyo Olympics after 41 long years. The Rani Rampal-led team lost the game to Great Britain in their bronze medal match earlier today in a close neck-and-neck game. This was the first time in the history of India women’s hockey that the side reached the semi-finals but suffered a loss against Argentina.

Although the side failed to secure a medal but had put sensational efforts to reach this level.

Minutes after India's bronze medal loss over Great Britain, everyone from the country hailed their efforts of representing India at such a level. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi also called the team to congratulate on their efforts.

PM Modi also talked to team's head coach Sjoerd Marijne over a phone call. The Indian Prime Minister hailed the girls’ efforts that they have put in to reach at this level.

"Many congratulations to you and your team, you guys have done a splendid job," said PM Modi Rani Rampal-led side. The Indian skipper credited PM Modi's motivation prior to the game for whatever the result came. PM Modi also enquired of about Navdeep’s injury and also praised Vandana and Salima.

Notably, the girls were left in tears while the conversation took place ackonwledging that the team reached the semi-finals after long time.

Notably, PM Modi also took to social media to share the efforts. "We narrowly missed a medal in Women’s Hockey but this team reflects the spirit of New India- where we give our best and scale new frontiers. More importantly, their success at #Tokyo2020 will motivate young daughters of India to take up Hockey and excel in it. Proud of this team" said the PM on Twitter.

Talking about the game, the Indians were leading 3-2 at one stage, however, a superb attacking game from the Great Britain side helped them seal the match 4-3.
