Manchester United will host Liverpool at the Old Trafford on Thursday. The much-anticipated clash will see United take on the Reds just 50 hours after Tuesday’s clash against Leicester City which confirmed that it would be Manchester City who would lift the Premier League trophy this season. However, Liverpool will be determined too as a place in the Champions League is at stake for them and the best they could do is win all their matches and hope for a few results to go their way. There is never a dull moment when these teams fight it out in the middle and expect a similar high-voltage game this Thursday night.
For the hosts, Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Phil Jones will not be available for selection. However, given that the Red Devils rested a few of their experienced stars in their previous game, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes are expected to walk back into the starting XI. However, there will not be Harry Maguire for United who sustained an injury and is even likely to be out of the Europa Cup final.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will miss the services of Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Moreover, Divock Origi will also not be available for this clash owing to injuries. Although Jordan Henderson has ben spotted training with the rest of the squad, he is not expected to feature in the XI.
Manchester United have shown real grit and determination in the season so far and whenever they have conceded a goal, they have found a way to fight back. However, this game may come too quickly for them which will make it all the more challenging for the Red Devils. On the other hand, the Reds have had a decent rest plus they have more at stake in this game than their rivals who are best playing for the second place. This comes keeping in mind these equations that Liverpool might have the edge heading into this match.
