Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw recently revealed the reasons behind his absence from the team in the recent DC game. Shaw posted a picture of him being admitted to the hospital where he is dealing with fever. The Instagram story said, “Admitted in hospital & recovering from fever. Thank u all for your good wishes. Will be back in action soon.”

As per the current situation, the Mumbai-born player is most likely to miss the game against the Chennai Super Kings. So far in the 2022 IPL, Shaw has been a vital cog in the DC team as he has formed one of the most formidable opening pairs with Australian batter David Warner. The Shaw-Warner duo has combined to put up 572 runs.

"Long boundaries in the stadium could be an advantage for our spinners," Amre

Addressing ahead of the CSK game, assistant coach Pravin Amre talked about how Kuldeep Yadav could be a crucial piece in this matchup. Amre said, “CSK has always been one of the teams to beat in the IPL. We always want to go one up against them as they set high standards for themselves.”

“I think the toss will be crucial in our next game because of the dew factor at the DY Patil Stadium. However, the long boundaries in the stadium could be an advantage for our spinners and especially Kuldeep Yadav, who is in great form at the moment.”

Delhi's another COVID-19 scare

But ahead of the CSK-DC game, Delhi Capitals net bowlers tested positive for COVID-19. Sources also revealed that DC has decided to isolate the player along with another bowler who was sharing the room with him.

As per IPL’s protocol regarding the COVID-19, Delhi Capitals will need to go through another round of testing and until that moment all players will have to be isolated in their rooms. DC is fifth in the points table as they won five games while also losing five.

The Delhi Capitals have been the only team that has suffered from many COVID-19 cases throughout the tournament this season. Their head coach Rick Ponting’s family member had also tested positive and hence Ponting decided to isolate himself for a game. Similarly, last month Tim Seifert and Mitchell Marsh along with four of their support staff members had tested positive.
