The second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic has absolutely devastated India. While several families have lost their loved ones to the dreaded COVID-19, others have had to bear some or the other consequences. The pandemic is claiming several thousand lives everyday with hundreds of thousands getting infected every 24 hours. Even the cricketing fraternity of the country is not left untouched in a severe health crisis. After the news of Veda Krishnamurthy losing her sister and mother to the infection, another tragic news is coming in from the women's cricket arena.

It has now been confirmed that cricketer Priya Punia lost her mother to Coronavirus. The 24-year-old Jaipur-born cricketer penned an emotional note on social media to express her pain and feelings. She even took the opportunity to urge her followers to wear mask and maintain social distancing to curb the spread of the life-threatening virus.

"Today I realized why you always told me to be strong. You knew that one day I would need the strength to bear the loss of yours. I miss you so mom," she wrote.

"No matter the distance I know you are always there with me. My guiding star, my mom.. Love you always," she added. "Some truth in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten! Rest In Peace Mom," she further wrote.
