The Day 1 of Pro Kabaddi League season 9 Player Auction has concluded with star raider Pawan Sehrawat emerging as the first player to cross the Rs 2-crore mark. Tamil Thalaivas bought the 23-year-old raider on Friday for a whopping Rs 2.26 crore to make him the most expensive PKL player of all-time.

Earlier, Domestic Players Category A raider Vikash Kandola became the most expensive player in PKL with Rs 1.70 crore bid from Bengaluru Bulls, but a few minutes later Pawan Sehrawat shattered his record by crossing the Rs 2-crore mark.

The PKL season 9 auction began with overseas players as Puneri Paltan bought the first player, all-rounder Mohammad Esmaeil Nabibakhsh for Rs 87 lakhs and set a tone to the player auction. Nabibakhsh was followed by Iranian defender Fazel Atrachali, who became the first player to cross the Rs 1 crore mark with a bid of Rs 1.38 crore from Puneri Paltan.

All-rounder Sandeep Narwal went unsold as no team showed interest for the Domestic Players Category A all-rounder while all-rounder Rohit Gulia was bought by Patna Pirates at the base price of Rs 30 lakhs.

Former most expensive PKL player Pardeep Narwal saw a downgrade in his pricing as the raider even failed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark. Narwal was initially bought by Gujarat Giants with a bid of Rs 90 lakhs but UP Yoddha used FBM card and retained the player for the same bid.

The Day 2 of the Pro Kabbadi League 2022 player auction will go live on Saturday, August 6.
