After successful eight editions of Pro Kabaddi League, PKL season 9 is all set to treat Kabaddi fans in the country. The organizers of the Pro Kabaddi League has formally announced the dates of the player's auction for the next edition of the tournament.

According to organisers, the highly-anticipated two-day auction will take place on August 5 and 6 in Mumbai. As per initial information, the domestic, overseas and new young players will be divided into four categories and players will be further sub-divided as 'All-rounders,' 'Defenders' and 'Raiders' within each category.

Mr. Anupam Goswami, CEO, Sports League, Disney Star India and League Commissioner, has said that future of the sport is very exciting and players will have great time in upcoming season. "Every season has witnessed the emergence of new talented players and I am certain that there are a lot of surprises in store for us this year as well," he said.

Notably, Dabang Delhi beat three-time champions Patna Pirates 37-36 in the summit-clash of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 in Bengaluru. While, season 8 provided some outstanding performances and several young player emerged as match-winners, PKL season 9 is going to be yet another successful edition which will bring the best out of players.

Base price for each category:

The base price for each of the categories are Category A – INR 30 Lakhs, Category B – INR 20 Lakhs, Category C – INR 10 Lakhs, Category D – INR 6 Lakhs.

Salary purse for franchises:

The total salary purse available to each franchise for its squad in season 9 is INR 4.4 Crore.

Players' pool:

The season 9 player's pool has been expanded to 500 plus including the 24 players from top two teams of the Khelo India University Games 2021, Bangalore.

Retention policy:

The PKL teams have a choice of retention of players from their respective PKL season 8 squads. The franchise are allowed to retain up to 6 players under the Elite Retained Players category and up to four New Young Players under stipulated conditions in each PKL season.

The players, who are not retained by the franchises from the pool of 500+ players, will go under the hammer during the two-day auction process in Mumbai.
