The stage is all set to witness yet another thrilling battle between bat and ball. Babar Azam-led side Karachi Kings will seek their maiden win and face Peshawar Zalmi on Friday. Both the teams have struggled so far, due to which they are at the bottom of the points table. Karachi Kings have lost all their matches so far in the tournament, while Peshawar Zalmi started well against Quetta Gladiators. Still, they have lost the momentum ever since and lost their last two consecutive matches.
The pitch at Karachi National Stadium has been batting friendly so far, due to which batters are enjoying playing here. However, bowlers will have to stick to line and length to make their mark. Considering the star-studded batting lineup both the teams have, we can expect some exceptional batting in tomorrow’s match.
Babar Azam-led side had a significant reputation on their shoulder, being led by the most prolific batter of the generation, a lot more was expected from the team. But Karachi Kings have failed to live up to its expectations. In the last three matches, the team has been unable to score defending and bundled out at low scores. Bowlers like Imad Wasim, Mohammad Imran, Mohammad Nabi and others have failed to mark the tournament. Karachi Kings will have to bring their best game against Peshawar Zalmi.
Despite the excellent batting display from Kamran Akmal (41 off 24) and Haider Ali (49 off 34), the team failed to chase down the target of 199 against Lahore Qalandars. The team had struggled so far in the tournament except for the first match when they successfully chased down a massive total of 190 with two balls remaining. Yasir Khan’s 30 off 12 balls, Shoaib Malik’s 48 off 32 balls, and dazzling knock from Hussain Talat (52 off 29 balls) guided the team to victory in the tournament’s first match. But ever since, batters have lost wholly lost their touch and will have to play some quality cricket as a unit to upset Karachi Kings.
