Karachi Kings will be up against Peshawar Zalmi in match number 13 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the first of the two matches on Wednesday at the National Stadium, Karachi. While Kings have had a bitter-sweet start to the season and have won two and lost two of their four matches to find themselves at the third position in the points table, Zalmi are enjoying the topmost position of the points table as of now, having won three of their four matches.
It's been a see-saw kind of a season for Karachi as their wins have been followed by defeats in their next game. While they won their season opener against Quetta Gladiators, where they chased down their target of 122 inside 14 overs, they lost their second game against Islamabad United where they failed to defend 196.
Next up again, the Kings were back to winning ways as they chased down 196 in 18.5 overs before losing to Lahore Qalandars on Sunday. Although their batting has been top-notch in this tournament, it is their bowlers who need to step and be more consistent after their first game against Gladiators.
In contrast, Peshawar Zalmi did not get it right in their maiden clash of the season against Lahore but since then have been on a three-match winning streak. They defeated Multan Sultans by 6 wickets before going to beat Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United. Like Karachi though, Peshawar too, seem to like chasing and the only match where they batted first resulted in their solitary defeat in the tournament so far. It is in this context, that the toss may also prove to be crucial in this match.
