PV Sindhu storms to the final in style

India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu defeated the 4th seeded Mia Blichfeldt in a highly-anticipated semi-final clash on Saturday. The 25-year-old earned a comfortable victory in straight sets 21-16, 23-21 in a match that lasted only 43 minutes. With the victory, Sindhu also avenged her loss against the opponent from Denmark, who had defeated her in the first round of Thailand Open in January.

Sindhu will now face first-seeded Carolina Marin in the final of the tournament on Sunday. The Spanish star defeated Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-15, 20-22, 21-19 in a thrilling contest to set up a mouth-watering finale clash with Sindhu.

Kidambi Srikanth crashes out in the semi-final

Fourth seeded Kidambi Srikanth had a mountain to climb on Saturday as he was up against Denmark’s  Victor Axelsen. Although the 28-year-old tried his best, he was comfortably beaten by the first seeded Axelsen in the 41-minute encounter. Srikanth lost the match in straight sets 21-13, 21-19.

Although it was one-way traffic in the semi-final, Srikanth and Axelsen produced one of the rallies of the tournament on Saturday. It was a exhilarating 22-shot exchange between the two players as the Danish shuttler claimed a hard-earned point in the end.
