Renowned actor R Madhavan’s son Vedaant Madhavan created national record in the 1500m freestyle event at the 48th Junior National Aquatic Championships which is being held in Bhubaneswar. With the new national record, Vedaant bagged a gold medal. He reportedly clocked 16:01.73 to leap over Advait Page’s record of 16:06.43 seconds which was created in 2017.

R Madhavan posted a video of his son where the 16-year-old can be seen rapidly increasing his pace to break the record, surprising everyone. Even the commentator heard saying, “Around 16 minutes, he has broken Advait’s record at the 780 m mark but he picked up his pace beautifully, I did not expect him to do it.”

After Vedaant’s national record, R Madhavan was asked about his son’s incredible feat to which the veteran actor addressed how his son is receiving a lot of attention which doesn’t align with his achievements. He also talked about how there are better swimmers in his age group but is happy that Vedaant is aware of this fact.

“Vedaant, I and Sarita (his wife) realised that he got a lot of attention because he is my child. His achievements are not at par with the fame he is getting right now. He’s won a few competitions and still has a long way to go. There are better swimmers in his age group in India. The good news is that Vedaant realises it,” R Madhavan said.

The actor then spoke about how his son is away from all this popularity in Dubai where he has to train rigorously. R Madhavan then also talked about how he jokes with Vedaant that he must now make the Olympics with so much fame.

“He is sanitised from all this popularity in Dubai. And he still gets up at 4 am for his swimming sessions. I tell him, ‘with all this popularity, you better get into Olympics’ (jokingly). I enjoy the fact that he enjoys swimming and we love seeing him doing what he loves. So, I am definitely not putting acting or anything on his mind. He enjoys swimming, business management and economics,” the actor further added.
