The third Grand Slam of the season is on and we have already seen some key players being knocked out of the tournament. But the mainstay players, including Rafael Nadal and former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic are going strong in the tournament eyeing another Grand Slam title to their tally.

Nadal, who is coming on the back of French Open win overcame his injury concerns to appear in the grass-court tournament. On the other hand, Djokovic who failed to play the first Grand Slam of the year (Australia Open) due to COVID-19 vaccine issue is back in business.

World no 4 ranked Spaniard Rafael Nadal is on a match-winning streak. He defeated Francisco Cerundolo in four sets to win his first match at the grass-court tournament. Although he had a bit of a trouble during his second round match, he overcame it defeating Lithuania’s Ricardas Berankis 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. With this win, he registered 16th consecutive Grand Slam win.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner will next face Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego on Saturday. This will be the first meeting for both of them. Notably, the Italian is coming after registering a win over Denis Kudla and Hugo Gaston in his first two matches.

On the other hand, the former World No. 1 will face countryman Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round of Wimbledon 2022 on Friday (today).

Djokovic began his title defense with a four-set win over Soon-woo Kwon, he defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round. On the other hand, Miomir registered a four-set win over John Millman in the Round 1 match, he defeated Alejandro Tabilo in the second round.

Ahead of their match today, both these Serbians have met twice before with Djokovic having a clear upper hand over the other.
