England forward Raheem Sterling has completed his move from Manchester City to Chelsea FC, the two Premier League clubs confirmed on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract with The Blues which is reportedly worth up to 50 million pounds ($59.60 million). Notably, Sterling becomes the first signing under the new ownership led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

The England footballer said he is happy to join Chelsea FC as he will get to play at his home crowd week in and week out. The 27-year-old also hoped to achieve new heights in his footballing career in the Chelsea Shirt. Notably, Raheem Sterling made a total of 339 appearances for Man City during his seven-year stay at the club.

The England international has lifted every available domestic honor during his seven years at the Etihad, which includes four Premier League titles, five League Cups, one FA Cup, and one Community Shield. The forwards scored 131 goals in total which include hitting double figures in every campaign at the Etihad, exceeding 20 goals in three consecutive seasons between 2017 and 2020.

“First and foremost, it’s a pleasure to be here. I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, but there is still so much more to achieve and I’m really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt, under Thomas’s management,” Raheem Sterling said after joining Chelsea. “London is my home and where it all started for me, and it’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge.
