Indian women's cricket team have had quite a challenging tour of England so far. After earning a hard-fought draw, Mithali Raj's side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in the recently-concluded ODI series. While there have been some big positives as well, the first four matches in England have given the team management quite a lot to think about. Reflecting on the same, head coach Ramesh Powar shed light on the tour so far and gave his honest opinion of areas where there is a scope of improvement required.
The 43-year-old praised the bowling and fielding of India against England in the one-off Test and ODI series. However, Ramesh Powar was quite critical of the batting so far which has let them down in the series. "Batting has to be up if we are aiming at the World Cup," said the Indian coach.
Powar was full of praise for Rana
He also went on to reveal the find of series for Indian side in the form of all-rounder Sneh Rana. Hailing Rana as find of this series, Powar admitted that he was extremely impressed with her bowling in Southampton in practice session, which is why the management decided to give her a chance.
As a former off-spinner himself, the Indian women team's coach added that he is really happy for Sneh Raha and can see the talent and potential in the player. "She is a player who can play in crunch situations and that’s what we needed right now, when the big tournaments or big series comes up, we need players of caliber who can take pressure,” Powar said.
