The Quarter-final fixture of the Ranji Trophy 2022 between Karnataka (KAR) and Uttar Pradesh (UP) is being played at KSCA Cricket Ground, Alur. In the first session of the third day of the fixture, Karnataka captain Manish Pandey was seen handling the wicket-keeping duties in place of injured wicket-keeper Srinivas Sharath.

Moreover, the backup keeper BR Sharath could not join the team on the field due to the certain rules laid by the BCCI. All the teams are required to provide a list of 15 players before the start of every domestic game, irrespective of how big or small the contingent is. However, BR Sharath’s name was reportedly missing, which was the key reason for his absence from the field. Soon, Srinivas returned to the field and took over his role.

Manish Pandey had done wicket-keeping for the Karnataka state team in the past in the Inter-squad matches on the India tour to Sri Lanka as well.

Earlier, Karnataka posted 253 on the board, with the key contributions from R Samarth (57) and Shreyas Gopal (56*). The likes of Saurabh Kumar and Shivam Mavi returned with 4 and 3 scalps, respectively.

In reply, UP could only manage only 155 runs with contributions from Priyam Garg, Rinku Singh, and Shivam Mavi. Ronit More was the pick of the bowlers, with 2 wickets for Karnataka.
