Team India missed out on another close opportunity to win a Test match on foreign soil. After posting a mammoth 378 as a target on Day 4, England opener provided a solid foundation to the hosts as they added 107 runs for the first wicket, but Indian bowlers bounced back and took three wickets in quick interval to reduce England to 109-3.
However, the pair of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root notched up an unbeaten match-winning partnership to pull off a historic Test victory against India and levelled the series 2-2. Team India’s poor performance evoked Indian cricket fans as they were quick to criticize head coach Rahul Dravid for his defensive tactics and blamed them for the side’s poor performance.
Notably, many Indian fans draw a comparison with former head coach Ravi Shastri by mentioning how under his guidance India bounced back strongly against Australia.

Two huge away series winning opportunity missed this year by India against South Africa (1-2) and England (2-2).
Rahul Dravid's coaching stint has been very poor so far. Far too many players (Kohli, Gill, Vihari, Iyer, Shardul) have let down the fans.#SackGanguly #SackDravid pic.twitter.com/sd1r2MDlJc

This coaching staff is not effective as the previous one. Players are regularly injured, undeserving players like ruturaj getting chances ahead of Shaw/Samson which is not good really. Rahul Dravid was a great cricketer and a very good coach at Under-19 Level but is not ready

Nothing is going to happen with this team. Rahul Dravid himself was a negative batsman.
