The Indian Premier League has quickly climbed up the ladders to become a tournament of international repute. Not only do the players want to be a part of the tournament, fans around the world wait for the T20 competition eagerly to witness some exciting action. And now the latest buzz around the IPL circuit is whether Wanindu Hasaranga will be able to find a taker for himself in IPL. His impressive performances in the recently-concluded India-Sri Lanka series have turned many heads towards him but the early reports suggest that the Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking to bag him as a replacement for Adam Zampa.

While initially, the complete Indian Premier League was set to be organised in India, the COVID-19 cases inside the bio-secure bubbles forced the rescheduling of the remainder of the tournament in the United Arab Emirates. And so the franchises are aiming at a few replacements, with several players opting out or being unavailable. Amid this scenario, RCB has reportedly approached the BCCI to consider the Sri Lanka all-rounder as a replacement for the Aussie leg-spinner.

Zampa had pulled out of IPL 2021 midway

Notably, Zampa, who was part of the Virat Kohli-led side, had pulled out of the IPL 2021 midway due to personal reasons. Although the team did not deal with many issues in his absence as they had a great first half of the tournament, they might need a few spinning options moving forward in the UAE. So far, Kohli-led franchise has won five of the seven matches they have played and would look to carry forward the momentum into the second half.

While several cricket experts and critics had lashed out at Sri Lanka for their disappointing performances against England, they lost the ODI series again India but managed to secure a 2-1 win over India. Moreover, it was Hasaranga who proved to be the consistent performer for them throughout the six fixtures.

He has particularly been impressive in the T20 matches ever since playing his maiden game against New Zealand in 2019. The leggie, who is capable of chipping in with runs lower down the order, has pretty much attracted the buyers and is expected to play IPL sooner than later. If he indeed makes it to the Bangalore squad, fans can expect Yuzvendra Chahal and Hasaranga spinning a web in tandem around the opposition batsmen.
